Donald Clayton Wierschke

God’s word says, “Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.” James 1:12 On July 31, 2016, Donald Clayton Wierschke received that crown of life at the age of 95 years. Donald was born on July 17, 1921, and was baptized a child of God and remained his child, faithfully trusting his Heavenly Father in all things. Donald enjoyed working as a farmer with his wife and family almost all of his life. He was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wrightstown. He was a loving and patient friend to many neighbors, friends, and family members. Donald married Geraldine Greening on June 14, 1945, and they lived to celebrate their 66th wedding anniversary. Donald is survived by his six children: Barry (Judy) Wierschke, Milwaukee; Carol (Wayne) Nielson, Brighton, MI; Betty Schmidt, Wrightstown; Pat (Bernie) Vickman, Wrightstown; James Wierschke, De Pere; and Dave Wierschke, De Pere; 17 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren; one sister, Bernice Klister of Wrightstown; and one sister-in-law, Betty Greening of Appleton. Donald was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Geraldine; his parents Fred and Mary Wierschke, his brother Roland, and sister Gladys. Family and friends may visit at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, 437 Turner St, Wrightstown, on Thursday, August 4, 2016 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm. Visitation will continue on Friday, at the church, from 9:00am until 10:45am. The Funeral Service for Donald will be celebrated at 11:00am with Pastor Mike Gehl officiating. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery following the service.
