It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of David W. Krahn of Denmark WI, on October 28, 2021, at the age of 72. After a short illness and his loving family by his side, Dave entered the eternal heavens.
Dave was born on October 7, 1949, to the late Wilbert and Dorothy (Laabs) Krahn. Dave is a 1967 graduate of Denmark High School. After graduating from high school he worked at Fort Howard Paper Company where he met his bride Karen Gawrylewski. They were married on September 9, 1972, at Assumption BVM Catholic Church in Pulaski.
Dave’s passion for farming started soon after his marriage to Karen. In 1973, they bought their farm, raising beef and dairy cattle, pigs, and chickens while welcoming four children to the herd. For many years Dave did custom combining, plowing, planting and chopping for many neighbors. Dave also sold for Mycosen and Jacques Seed Company, all while owning and operating many acres of his own. Dave served on the Board of Education for the Denmark Co-op 73-76. In 1978, Dave had the honor of being named Outstanding Farm Family of the Year and hosting Red Power Day at their farm. Dave enjoyed going on casino trips, countryside rides, bowling, beanbag nights, and going out for a good steak dinner and enjoying a brandy old fashion.
Dave is survived by his loving wife Karen of 49 years; children, Brian (Tracy), Brenda (special friend Eric), Jeff (Jessica), and Matthew (Sara); grandchildren, Kayla (special friend Josh), Bryanna, Alexis, Allison, Sierra, Austin, and Corbin; expecting his first great-grandchild January 2022; siblings, Bruce (Diane) Krahn, Deb McCarty, Pam (Peter) Hansen, Sue (Kevin) Bosetski, LuAnn (Dave) Falk; brother and sister in laws, Fr. Patrick Gawrylewski OFM, Mary (Alan) McCabe-Holewinski, Joanne Gawrylewski, and Rosanne (Dave) Johnson; many other relatives and friends.
Dave is preceded in death by his parents Wilbert and Dorothy; sister, Cheryl; in-laws Roman and Lottie; brother in-law Al; unborn child; and many other loved ones.
