David Lee Dresang Jr.

David Lee Dresang, Jr., 54, De Pere, passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2013, as a result of a Brain Stem Stroke. He was born in Alaska to David Lee and Jeannie Marie (Wiedenhaupt) Dresang, Sr. on June 5, 1958. He was a 1976 graduate of Appleton East High School. He achieved a Machine Tool Operation degree from Northeast Wisconsin Tech College in 1998. On May 31, 1996 David married the love of his life, Theresa Lynn Wellens in Green Bay. Many hours of enjoyment were spent discussing movies and music facts with his daughters, Tiana and Amber. Bryan will always remember the morning horse play while waiting for the bus. He also enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren with his time…and COOKIES!!! David was very active with the Second Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Association--Civil War Re-enacting family, where he served as current President and past Secretary of the association. He also served as 1st Lieutenant, past secretary and 1st Sergeant of Company E within the association. He was a member of the Sons of the Union Veterans Camp 8. These civil war groups enabled him to keep history alive and educate many minds, young and old, on the importance of history. He always had a special place in his heart for scouting and was a Merit Badge Counselor with The Bay Lakes Council and Troop 1043 of The Boy Scouts of America. He himself was a life Scout. Many fun filled hours were spent by David volunteering at the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay with close friends Bob and Julie and other museum family. David is survived by his loving wife, Theresa; daughters, Tiana Dresang and Amber (Chris) Dresang-Charlier; son, Bryan Dresang; grandchildren, Talon, Serenity and Atreyu; brothers and sisters, Barb Ashton, Anchorage, AK; Sally Montulli, Rochester, NY; Randy (Angie) Dresang, Hubert, NC; Mary Kay Dresang (Jim), Appleton; Misty (Jerome) Wilen, Olympia, WA; mother, Jeannie Rice; aunt, Jackie Spielbauer, Kaukauna; in-laws, Bob and Helen Wellens, De Pere; mother of his daughters, Susan Fontaine; cats, Shadow, Lefty and Smeagol; many relatives and friends. He is preceded by his parents, David and Mary; sister, Amy Trowbridge; uncle, Donald Spielbauer; grandparents, Anna and Arthur Wiedenhaupt and Mildred and Pat Zellmer. Family and friends may call at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 651 Pinehurst Ave. (corner of Finger Road Pinehurst Ave.), Green Bay, on Friday, January 18, 2013, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., where there will be a Celebration of David’s life at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday at church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Cotter Funeral Homes and Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements.
