Darlene Lynn Johnson

Darlene Lynn Johnson, age 71, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2020 surrounded by her family at her home in Denmark, WI. Darlene lived a full life as a wonderful mother, wife and homemaker. She treasured her husband and children, and enjoyed rummage sales, playing word games, and enjoying the outdoors during summer and fall.

Everyone always knew where you stood with Darlene. She liked you or she didn't, it was black or white. She had a vivacious personality and a very determined spirit. Her life was a living example of her favorite Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 - "Whatsoever your hand findeth to do, do it with all thy might.”


Darlene was preceded in death by her parents Clarence & Alma (Heise) Matte, brothers, sisters, and in-laws; Meryl (Elaine) Matte, Ken Matte, Lloyd Matte, Leroy (Isabel) Matte, Gene Matte, Bruce Matte, Patsy (Allan) Schwoerer, Nancy Johnson, and Dan Meeboer.

She is survived by her husband and best friend Gary Johnson, and children Seth (Andrea) Johnson, Autumn Johnson & (Nate Staples), Heidi (James) Travis, Noah (Melody) Johnson and Brittany (Eric Danihel) Johnson. She is also survived by her sixteen grandchildren.

She is also survived by sisters, and in-laws; Lois (Jim) MacDonald, Sue Matte, Pat (Ron) Matte, Dawn Matte, Janice Matte, Joanne (Fred) Alger, Carl (Barbara) Johnson, Dennis (LuAnn) Johnson, Judy (Skip) Hengel, Sue (Doug) Piontek, Sally (Bob) Konkle, Brian (Doris) Johnson, Neil (Karen) Johnson, Scott Johnson, Jill Meeboer, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

All who loved her dearly will never forget her tenacity, determination, wit, grace and undying love and care for them.

Visitation will be held at the Cotter Funeral Home, 536 CR-R, Denmark WI on Friday, January 10, 2020 from 2:00PM until 5:00PM with a brief memorial service to follow.

The family sends a special thank you to Dr. Bradley Wozney at Bellin Health for taking such great care of Darlene throughout many years. Also, we would like to thank Unity Hospice for their support and care.

Most of all, we want to give all the glory to God for the special moments, miracles, and love He gave us through Darlene.
