Dale Behnke

February 25, 1940 — August 25, 2013

Dale L. Behnke, 73, was called to his heavenly home on Sunday, August 25, 2013 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on February 25, 1940 to the late Louis and Beatrice (Harris) Behnke, spending his childhood years in Peshtigo, Wisconsin. He was united in marriage to Sandra Lee LaVallee, his childhood sweetheart, and enjoyed 32 loving years together before her passing in 1993. Wherever Dale went he made many friends with his warm smile and quick wit. Special friendships were formed through the many years working at Schroeder’s Flowerland after moving the family to Green Bay from Menominee, Michigan. Even when he said he retired, he continued to work part-time at Denny’s Super Value in Algoma until his illness. Dale was not one to sit idle when there was work to be done! Dale was a loving father who was always there for his family and others when they needed him. He will be missed by daughters, Kristi (Dave) Nuttall and Doreen (Matt) Lesneski; two grandchildren, Alyssa Havens and Dani Dunlap, who meant the world to him; brothers, Robert (Loraine) Nelson and John (Linda) Behnke; loving in-laws, nieces, nephews and many long-time friends. He is also survived by his special friend over the years, Kaye Allen and her family. Family and friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, on Thursday, August 29, 2013 from 2p.m. to 5p.m. Funeral services will be at 5p.m. at Cotter Funeral Home with Pastor Cheryl Weaver of Bethany Methodist Church officiating. Interment in Riverside Cemetery, Peshtigo, WI. Online condolences may be expressed to Dale’s family at www.cotterfuneralhome.com. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Odd Fellows Nursing Home, where Dale said he felt like he was at home, also the many caregivers from Heartland Hospice and the many physicians and nurses that cared for Dale.
