Clayton Peter Liebergen

Clayton P. Liebergen, 80, Wrightstown, passed away peacefully at home, Tuesday, May 26, 2015, with his family by his side, following a long term battle with Parkinson’s. The son of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Baeten) Liebergen, was born on December 18th, 1934. On June 9th, 1955, Clayton married the love of his life, Lois during a double-ring ceremony with his cousin Leo Nackers and Lois’s twin sister, Alice. The two were lifelong members of St. Clare Catholic Church, Wrightstown, where he was an usher, and was a member of the Men’s Holy Name Society. Clayton dedicated his life to his family and his farm. He semi-retired from the farm in 1999, where his son Conrad, third generation farmer, carries on the family tradition. He was a volunteer firemen for the Hollandtown Fire Department for many years. He also loved caring for his horses, going bowling with wife and friends, and playing Sheepshead. Clayton is survived by his wife, Lois, five children: Carol (Rick) Stuyvenberg; Mark (Jean Wall) Liebergen; Tim (Lou Ann Huss) Liebergen; Paula (John) Van Dyck; Conrad (Lisa Koltz) Liebergen; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and two on the way; sisters: Eileen Spice; Martha Van Oss; and brother-in-law, Cyril Nies. He is further survived by his nieces, nephews, Lois’s family, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Martha Leick, one brother, Jasper (Myrtle Liebergen; four sisters: Florence (Norb) Gonnering; Della (Richard) Ver Hagen; Bonnie (Sylvester) Vissers; Delores Nies; two brothers-in-law, Jerome Van Oss and Les Spice. Friends and family may visit at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 North Webster Avenue, De Pere, on Thursday, May 28, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A parish prayer service will conclude the evening at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday, at St. Clare Parish – St. Paul Site, Wrightstown, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday with Fr. Dennis Bergsbaken, officiating. Interment will take place in St. Paul Catholic Cemetery, Wrightstown. Cotter Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family.
