Ceil Ann (Queoff) Scannell

Ceil Scannell, 93, De Pere, passed away peacefully Friday, June 8, 2012 at Rennes Health and Rehab Center. The daughter of the late Joseph and Ceil (Czechanski) Queoff was born September 16, 1918 in Green Bay. Ceil married E.A. “Cub” Scannell January 29, 1938. He preceded her in death June 22, 1977. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church. She sang with the church choir and was part of the Ladies Altar Rosary Society. Ceil was the most generous, kind, fun-loving person with a heart of gold! Ceil is survived by her children, Judy (Gary) Basten, Nancy Brozek Carlson, Sue Smith, California, and Steve Scannell; daughter-in-law, Lynn (Andy) Scannell; grandchildren, Polly (John) Willis, Andy (Jane) Basten, Julie (Bob) Brocker, Mike (Randi) Basten, Casey Brozek, Erin Scannell, Tyler Smith, Riley Smith, DeAnn Cassida, Kelly Scannell, 14 great grandchildren; sister, Priscilla Herald; brother, Joseph Queoff; sister-in-law, Dolly Queoff; brothers-in-law, Jack Connerton and Dan Drossart; as well as many nieces and nephews. Ceil was preceded in death by her husband and a loving son, Andy; sisters, Frances (Clarence Rockey Frank Femal), Agnes (Henry “Hank” Buchanan Wilber “Smiley” Schaut), Ann (Frank) Hurckman, Sister Joselle Queoff, Marie “ Mickey” Connerton; brothers, Jerry Queoff, John (Ann) Queoff, Mike Herald, and Berdine Queoff. Ceil was also preceded by Cub’s family, Leota (Scannell) Van Kauwenberg, Ruth (Biff) Helf, John (Vivian) Scannell, Arleen (Mike) Dwyer and Ruby Drossart. Family and friends may call Sunday, June 10, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. presided by Pastoral Minister Steve Donovan. Visitation will continue on Monday, June 11, 2012 from 9:30 a.m. to11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 220 S. Michigan St., De Pere. Ceil’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00a.m. on Monday at the church with Rev. Richard Getchel officiating. Interment will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery. Ceil’s family would like to thank Dr. Jeremy Green, the staff of Rennes Health and Rehab Center and all of the caregivers that have given care and compassion to their mother during her later years.
