Carole A. (Knaus) Beerntsen, age 76, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, June 1, 2015. She was born on September 17, 1938, daughter of the late Orville and Mildred (VanBeek) Knaus. Carole married Robert Beerntsen on October 28, 1961 at St. Phillip Catholic Church in Green Bay by the Reverend Harold Beerntsen. Carole graduated from St. Norbert College in 1960 and was an elementary school teacher. She loved to watch the Milwaukee Brewers with her family. Her favorite foods were chocolate, ice cream and brats. She also loved Diet Coke. Carole is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Robert W. Beerntsen, her children: Robert J. Beerntsen, John Beerntsen, Julie (Ken) Smudde, Sandy (Bob) Glowacki; grandchildren: Brad, Alex, Ann, Kristin, Jenny and Abbie; a sister, Barb (Louis) VandenAvond, a brother Mark Knaus and a sister-in-law Carole Knaus. Carole was preceded in death by her parents Orville and Mildred (VanBeek) Knaus, her brother Larry Knaus, brothers-in-law Fr. Harold Beernsten and Mel Beerntsen, sister-in-law Michelle “Mickey” Knaus and mother-in-law and father-in-law Henry and Martha Beerntsen. Family and friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, on Friday, June 5, from 9:00am until the time of service at 11:00am with the Rev. John H. Harper officiating. Interment in Allouez Catholic Cemetery. The Beerntsen family would like to extend a special thank you to all the health care professionals at Santa Maria Nursing Home, especially the third floor staff. We love and miss you.
