Carol Jean (Schultz) Laundrie

June 16, 1937 — May 11, 2015

Carol Jean (Schultz) Laundrie, age 77, died on May 11, 2015 at the Jack and Engrid Meng Residence of Unity Hospice. The daughter of the late Albert and Geraldine (Valentine) Schultz was born June 16, 1937 in Brown County. She was baptized July 11, 1937 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Denmark, by Rev. Theo Hansen. She went to Fairview Grade School in Henrysville. She was confirmed on May 13, 1951 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Denmark, by the Rev. J.H. Thomson. She graduated from Denmark High School in 1955. She was married to B. Gordon Laundrie on October 25, 1956. They had three sons born to them. They ran a dairy farm near Curran on Highway V in Kewaunee County for 39 years. She worked for Bellin Hospital, Denmark Cooperative and Brown County Publishing Company. Carol Jean and Gordon met at a dance and also enjoyed square dancing with the Whirlaway Club for many years. They retired from farming and moved to Denmark in 1995. Gordon preceded her in death on August 14, 1998. Carol was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Denmark. Through the years she sang in the choir, helped the quilters, and worked for funerals. She was a member of the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. She was very active in Bible Study, was a Befriender taking communion to the shut-ins, and for 13 years she was a part of the team assisting her Pastor with the Service at Harmony House, etc. Carol was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 6705. Surviving are three sons: Kevin (Bonnie) Laundrie, granddaughter, Kelsey N. Laundrie, and step grandsons, Grant and Brent Fowler; Mark D. Laundrie and step grandson, Arthur J. Kornely, and step great grandson, A.J. “Artie” Kornely; Eric Laundrie and grandson, Jade W. Laundrie; two sisters: Neva (Leland) Fels and Pamela (Steve) Mathis; Godchildren: Pamela (Schultz) Mathis, Keith Fels and Leah (Mathis) Czarneski; nieces and nephews: Stephen Fels, Kari Sikorski, Keith Fels, Lisa Carling, Leah Czarneski, Rachel Mathis, Sarah Mathis and Jared Mathis; and three brothers-in-law: Donald (Leonarda) Laundrie, Carlton Laundrie and Robert Riley. She was preceded in death by her husband, B. Gordon Laundrie; parents, Albert and Geraldine (Valentine) Schultz; a stillborn brother; grandparents, Herman and Johanna (Tielens) Valentine, and Anna (Kollath) Schultz Olsen; Carol’s in-laws: Harry and Helen Laundrie; and two sisters-in-law, Caroline Riley and Agnes Laundrie. Family and friends may visit OUR SAVIOR’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, DENMARK, on Sunday, May 17, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday at church from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of funeral service at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. Andrew Zoerb officiating. Interment will be in West Danish Cemetery. Knutson-Cotter Funeral Home is assisting the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
