Carol Jean (Massey) Kaster

Carol Kaster, 77, Ledgeview, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday evening, November 25, 2015, at her home. The daughter of the late Cyril and Berdine (DeJardin) Massey was born on October 6, 1938 in Sugarbush. On October 5, 1960, she married Jerome F. Kaster at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Pine Grove. The two farmed for most of their life on the family farm. Carol served funeral lunches at Holy Trinity in Pine Grove for many years. She was also an election worker for the Town of Ledgeview. She also was a chaperone for the De Pere High School FFA trips. Carol was a server of her community, helping multiple individuals and organizations with fundraisers. She was a community minded person and took great pride in helping others out. Carol also loved to read. Survivors include her loving husband, Jerome; children: Cheryl Kaster-Johnson, Green Bay; Dan (Holly) Kaster, Ledgeview; Julie (Michael) Van Deurzen, De Pere; nine grandchildren: Brad, Nick, Samantha, Anna, Emilie, Karla, April, Rachel, Austin; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Massey, Milwaukee; sisters-in-law: Aggie Albers, Bellevue; Carol Schultz, Greenleaf. Carol is preceded in death by a daughter, Mary; granddaughter, Laura Van Deurzen; son-in-law, Jeff Johnson; brother, Jim Massey; brothers-in-law: Jim Schultz, Robert Albers, and Wayne Kaster. Family and friends may call at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4805 Sportsman Road, Ledgeview, on Sunday, November 29, 2015 from 3:00 until 8:00pm, with a Parish Prayer Service at 7:00pm. Visitation will continue on Monday from 9:30 until 10:45am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am with the Rev. Richard Getchel, officiating. Entombment will take place at the Shrine of the Good Shepard Mausoleum. Cotter Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the Kaster family.
