Carl A. Jr. Schuldes

Carl A. Schuldes, Jr. 88, Allouez, passed away Monday, July 18, 2011. He was born in Green Bay on May 5, 1923, a son of the late Carl and Helen (Bader) Schuldes. He attended St. John’s School and graduated from East High School. Carl attended St. Norbert College for a year and then enlisted in the U.S. Army on November 18, 1942. He attained the rank of Sergeant and was awarded three Battle Stars for his involvement in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater, primarily New Guinea, southern Philippines, and Luzon. Carl was honorably discharged from the service on January 20, 1946. He returned to St. Norbert College graduating in 1947. He attended Queens College in N.Y. City while in the service, and also was a graduate of McIntire School of Finance at the University of Virginia. Carl married Cleo Biemeret in Green Bay on October 18, 1947. He was Vice President of University Bank, and was involved with Skogg Real Estate and Hart Design Co. He was a past president of Northside Preble Kiwanis; Wisconsin Bankers Association; the Pazaza Club; and the Golden Knights Society of St. Norbert College. He retired from U.S. Army Reserves as a Captain. He was the first Vice Commander of the American Legion and a vice-president of the Reserve Officers Association. In 1967, Carl was named chairman of a campaign to raise the local share of funds for the first complete mental retardation center in the nation. He was a huge Green Bay Packer fan, and a shareholder. Carl will be remembered for his sense of humor and enjoyed golfing and tennis. For 20 years, Carl and Cleo spent winters in Florida, on Anna Maria Island, and loved having the kids come to visit. He also enjoyed spending time with the grandsons - cooking, solving crossword puzzles, and playing rummy. Mack recently took Grandpa to see the Zippin Pippin roller coaster. He also loved visits from his great-granddaughter, Amber. Carl is survived by his wife, Cleo; 4 children: Kurt, Karl, Chris (Shari) Schuldes, and Amy (Wes) Neal; 3 grandchildren: Noah (Sherry) Neal, Jacob (Leanne) Neal, and Mack Neal; a great-granddaughter, Amber Grace Neal; a brother, Ken (Marge) Schuldes; and other relatives and friends. Friends may call at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, on Friday, July 22, 2011 from 10 am until 11:30 am. A memorial service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday at 11:30 a.m. with Fr. Gery Meehan, O.Praem, officiating. U.S. Military Veterans Honors will conclude the services.
