Calvin G Raab

Calvin Raab, age 68 of Howard, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2019 at St. Mary’s Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 15, 1951 to Helen (Gothard) and the late Marshall Raab in Savannah, Illinois. Cal served his country in the United States Marine Corps, from 1970 to 1973, then on October 13, 1973, he married Beverly Buza in Milwaukee. He was a member of the Laborers Local 113 and Operating Engineers Local 139. Cal loved fishing (all types) as well as hunting, riding his motorcycle and telling dad jokes. He was a regular blood donor and in the spirit of his giving nature, he became an organ donor, continuing to help others even after his death. He was always willing to lend a hand and would go out of his way to find those needing it. Cal’s greatest source of pride was his family, especially his sons and grandchildren.

Cal is survived by his wife, Bev Raab, sons; Paul (Michael Schloemer) Raab, Mark Raab and Kevin (Tracy) Raab, grandchildren; Lennon, Marley and Penelope Raab. He is further survived by his mother, Helen Raab, siblings; Ted (Carol) Raab, John (Josie) Raab, Marsha (Gary) Larson and Randy (Tonya) Raab, as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death are his father, Marshall Raab and his in laws, Lorraine and Florian Buza.

Family and friends are invited to an informal gathering on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave. beginning at 1:00pm until 3:00pm, a memorial service will be held at 3:00pm, with military honors to follow. In lieu of flowers, please give of yourself in Cal’s memory, whether donating blood or just helping a neighbor in need.
