Bruce R. Walter

September 27, 1947 — March 31, 2013

Bruce R. Walter, 65, De Pere, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2013 at a local hospital. He was born September 27, 1947 in Mauston, WI, son of the late Reinhard and Margaret (Scoville) Walter. He graduated from Mauston High school and following served his country for 26 years in the United States Air Force starting as an Aircraft Mechanic, retiring as SMSGT where he was in charge of running the flight line. He married Susan Walter in 1970 and divorced in 2000, but maintained a close relationship until her death in 2010. Bruce was very fortunate in finding love, friendship and great happiness with Wendy Mcglachlin the past 14 years of his life. Bruce enjoyed Brewer games, traveling, camping, and tubing in Arizona. Much of his joy came from being active in his children and grandchildren’s lives. He enjoyed watching them at baseball, dance, basketball, softball, and all their school events. The weekend following Thanksgiving, he enjoyed his yearly tradition of hanging Christmas lights at his daughter’s home with his son-in-law, Tom. He will be deeply missed by his fiancé- Wendy Mcglachlin, De Pere; two children: Tracey (Tom) Berceau, De Pere, and Bruce M. Walter, Washington; step-children: Aaron (Heather) Leurquin, and Tasha Leurquin and Josh; and his grandchildren: Josh and Jaclyn Berceau, Tara Gregorich, Logan Leurquin, and Marlee Harrill. In addition to his parents and Susan, Bruce was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Morse. Family and friends may call Friday, April 5, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 120 S. Henry St., Green Bay. Funeral service will be at 7:00 p.m., with the Rev. David Hatch officiating. Full military honors will follow the service. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, De Pere. Cotter Funeral Home and Cremation Service, De Pere, is assisting the family. The family extends a special thank you to the ER staff and ICU staff at Aurora BayCare for all the kindness and compassion shown to Bruce and his family, Pastor Dave Hatch for his visits and support, and for all the prayerful support from family and friends.
