Brian E. Grode

August 19, 1940 — September 5, 2013

Brian E. Grode, 73, Wrightstown, passed away Thursday, September 5, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born August 19, 1940 in Appleton to the late Edmund and Mildred (West) Grode. Brian farmed all his life on his wife’s family farm and also worked construction. He married Marian Micke on May 15, 1962 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Wrightstown, and she preceded him in death on January 1, 2013. Brian enjoyed farming, tractors, going up north, and getting together with his family. Survivors include his children: Mark (special friend, Christy) Grode, Ted (Laurie) Grode, Kelli (Dennis) Effa, Tami (Rod) Just, Bruce (special friend, Tanya) Grode, Boni (Kevin) Dvorachek, and Kathi (Mike) Danke; grandchildren: Eric, Ashley, Amber, Sammi, Ben, Keith, Tyler, Brandon, Colten, Brooklyn and Bridget; great-grandchildren: Ava, Caleb and Hailey; brothers and sisters: Ken (Carol) Grode, Charlotte Wynboom, Gene Grode and Rosie Grode; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Margaret (Clarence) Smet, Eugene (Deloris) Micke, Rosemary (the late Gerald) VanEperen, Carol (Gerald) Ederer, Patty (Robert) Gerend, Helen (Robert) Fritsch, Betty (Charles) Heading, Robert Micke, Mary (Jim) Dickrell, Kathleen (Paul) Miller and William (Jean) Micke; nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Brian was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marian; brother, Wayne Grode; sister, Marilyn Grode; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Norbert and Elizabeth Micke; and brothers-in-law, Dick Wynboom and Gerald VanEperen. Per Brian’s request, no services will be held. Brian’s ashes will be laid to rest with his wife, Marian, at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Wrightstown at a later date. Cotter Funeral Home, Wrightstown, is assisting the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com.
