Blanche (Cleven) Heezen

Blanche Frances (Cleven) Heezen, age 90, of De Pere, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014. The daughter of the late John and Minnie (Hendricks) Cleven was born October 21, 1923. She married Henry J. Heezen on June 19, 1948 at St. Mary Catholic Church in De Pere, and they shared 47 years together until he passed away on March 5, 1996. Blanche was a nurse for St. Mary Hospital, and later was a dairy farmer with her husband. Her hobbies included woodcarving and feeding birds, and she was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where she served meals for funerals. Survivors include her children: Jane (Jim) Marsland of Suamico, Joan Heezen of Hudson, Dave (Sandy) Heezen of Greenleaf, Betty (Mike) VanDeWalle of De Pere, Beverly (John) Gage of De Pere and Barb (Verne) Doherty of De Pere; grandchildren: Jessie (Jim) Thibadeau, Jerry (Nikki) Marsland, Jake Heezen, Kelly (Kyle) Boyce, Adam (Laura) VanDeWalle, Miranda Gage, Jack Gage, Teele (fiancé Louie) Doherty; great-grandchildren: Morgan, Cole, Alexandria, Kamry, Atlanna, Venna and Mitchel; brothers and sisters: Alice Wicker, Mary Schmidt and Don (Regina) Cleven; brother and sister-in-law: Helen VandeHei, Cy Cleven and Dorothy Heezen. Blanche was preceded in death by her parents, John and Minnie Cleven, her husband, Henry J. Heezen; brother, Robert Cleven; great-grandson, Kenny Wertel; mother and father-in-law: George (Elizabeth) Heezen; brothers-in-law: Arnie Schmidt, Robert (Betty) Heezen, Hill (Amelia) Heezen, Pete (Rose) Heezen, John Heezen, Lambert (Mabel) Heezen, Andy (Rita) Heezen and Bernard Wicker; sisters-in-law: Kate (Bernard) VandenBergh and Sr. Lambert Heezen. Family and friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave, on Sunday, April 13, from 4-8pm, with a parish prayer service at 7:30pm. Visitation will continue on Monday, from 9-10:45am at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4805 Sportsman Dr, Ledgeview. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am with the Rev. Richard Getchel officiating. Entombment in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd.
