Betty Seeman

March 29, 1934 — November 24, 2023

Betty Seeman, age 89, died in her sleep on Friday, November 24, 2023. Betty was born at Langlade Memorial Hospital in Antigo, WI on March 29, 1934 to Clayton and Anna (Hoffmeister) Smith. She attended Antigo High School.

She married Ed Seeman, at St. John’s church in Antigo, WI on January 10, 1953. They spent most of their lives in De Pere and moved to the Three Pillars Senior Living Community in Dousman, WI during 2019. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this year.

Prior to her marriage, Betty moved to the Green Bay Area where she worked at H.C. Prange for 2 years. She also worked at the Mariner Supper Club, Ford’s Bakery and East De Pere High School.

Betty loved kids, baking, bowling and playing cards. She was every child's favorite playmate and cuddle buddy. She would spend hours playing house, school or whatever a child's imagination came up with. Betty loved baking and making desserts.

Everyone could always count on her to make their favorite including Schaum Tortes, coffee cake, sugar cookies and many other pies, bars and cakes.

Betty and Ed were in many bowling leagues, sometimes bowling twice a week. She was able to continue bowling for over 50 years. They thoroughly enjoyed their time at the lanes where they met many people and many lifelong friends. Ed and Betty were also avid card players. They were part of many card clubs where they also made terrific friendships.

Betty and Ed love spending time outdoors. In their younger years they took many family vacations and weekends that involved camping. Later they enjoyed their summers at Lake Noquebay in Crivitiz, fishing, making campfires and cooking out. Betty's love for fishing never faded. At 88 years old she was featured on the John Gillespie Show for the large bluegill she caught off their dock at Lake Noquebay.

Betty is survived by her husband Ed and her children: Douglas (Vickie) Seeman, Dennis (Tracy) Seeman and Judy (Dan) Berghoefer; grandchildren: Brianne (Phil) Kleman and Kendra Moline (Kevin Feller), Nick (Annie) Seeman and Emily (Blake) Johnson, Anna (Duffy) Eberhardt and Emma (Andrew) Shuler; 10 great-grandchildren: Kasen, Kenley and Kolton Kleman, Lilli Moline, Huntley and Jack Feller, Cole, Finley and Oliver Seeman, Mark Johnson as well as nieces, nephews and other close family members; sister-in-law Viola Hoppe, and brothers Jerry (Judy) Smith, Jim Smith and Richard Smith. Betty was also Godmother to 4 very special people in her life, Peggy Mecklenburg (Hoppe), Kris Stock (McKenzie), Debbie (Smith) Tetting and Anna (Berghoefer) Eberhardt.

In addition to her parents, Clayton and Anna, Betty was preceded in death by her brother Norman Hoppe and sisters-in-law Val Smith and Gail Smith.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the caregivers at Three Pillars Senior Living Community and Allway Home & Hospice for their enduring care, devotion and advocacy of our mom and wife, Betty.

God saw you getting tired,

When a cure was not to be.

So He wrapped his arms around you,

and whispered, "Come to me".

You didn't deserve what you went through,

So He gave you rest.

God's garden must be beautiful,

He only takes the best

And when I saw you sleeping,

So peaceful and free from pain

I could not wish you back

To suffer that again.
