Bernice Collett (De Cleene) Strenn

August 31, 1926 — March 13, 2017

Bernice (De Cleene) Strenn, 90, Greenleaf, passed away Monday, March 13, 2017 after a short illness at Ledgeview Nursing Center. Bernice was born August 31, 1926 in the Town of De Pere (Ledgeview) to the late William and Christine (Scray) De Cleene. She married Howard Strenn on April 26, 1947 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Greenleaf. Howard preceded her on October 10, 1996. Bernice was an active member of St. Mary’s, Greenleaf, serving on the finance board, ladies society, phy-ed teacher, adult choir, and librarian. While living in De Pere she volunteered at Brown County Aging and De Pere Christian Outreach. She was also a member of American Legion Auxillary #436 of Wrightstown. She is survived by three sons, Blaise (Katalin) of Raleigh, NC; Paul (Celeste) of Worcester, NY and Edward (Yousedy) of Greenleaf; one daughter, Anne Van Dyke (fiance’ Mike Olow) of Wrightstown; six grandchildren, Quinn Strenn, Tim (Jennifer)Van Dyke, Ben (Rachel) Van Dyke, Emily (Brandon) Luedtke, Peter (Brittany) Bong and Alicia Bong; 9 Great-grandchildren; sisters, Loretta Verhasselt, Helen Verhasselt, Sister Vonnie, Alice Morrell, Joyce De Cleene and Judy (Bob) Johanski; sisters-in-law, Laverne De Cleene, Leona De Cleene and Joanne De Cleene; many precious nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Howard; parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry and Inez (Brown) Strenn; brothers, Howard, Leo, Harold, Vic and Al; sisters, Rita Boucher and Sr. Mary De Cleene; brothers-in-law, Leo Verhasselt, Donald Boucher and Basil Verhasselt. Howard’s family Lucy (Richard) Neuman, Vivian (Elwin) Cavil, Gordon (Adele) Strenn, Eunice (Robert) Strenn, Donald Strenn, Hazel (Bill) Van Grunsven. Family and friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, on Sunday, March 19, 2017 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Visitation will continue on Monday, March 20 at St. Clare Catholic Church-St. Paul Site, Wrightstown from 9:00am to 10:45am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Bernice at 11:00am with Rev. Bob Kabat officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Greenleaf. Online condolences may be sent to www.cotterfuneralhome.com Bernice loved being at home on the family farm; going to the woods, reading, baking bread, helping others in need, spending time with all those who loved her. She treasured all of her family, her friends and the community.
