Bernard Peter Albers

Bernard (Ben) Peter Albers, DePere, passed away on May 31, 2022. He was born in DePere, WI on March 16, 1927 to the late Henry and Minnie (Coenen) Albers. Bernard married Leola (Lee) B. Huempfner on May 13, 1950.

Ben was a loving and adored husband of Lee for 66 years, until she passed away on April 13, 2017. Ben and Lee purchased the family homestead where he was born and farmed the land until Ben was 62. Ben had a second career working at Hilly Haven Golf Course as part of the groundskeeping staff for 20 years. Ben was a beloved father and a cherished grandfather and great-grandfather. Ben loved the family dairy farm, caring for his apple orchard, playing cards, polka music, and golfing. However, his greatest joy was playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He truly was a kid at heart.

Survivors include his children, Mike (Cathy) Albers, Francis Creek and children Jesse Albers and Amy (Kevin) Beeman; Jeanne (Clark) Trousil, Reedsville and children Heather (Montana) Long and Jeremy Trousil; Nancy (John) Zimmerman, Sugar Land, TX and children Jennifer (Jeff) McCracken and Kelly (Shawn) Jaffray; Mary Kay (Dale) Capelle, DePere and children Nicole (Nick) Kempen and Eric (Kim) Capelle; Dave (Polly) Albers, Ashwaubenon and children Stephanie (Tom) Krahn and Mark (Laura) Albers; Karen (Todd) Borman, Corvallis, MT and children Brittany and Trent, and Linda (Bill) DeWitt, DePere and children Ryan (Naomi) DeWitt and Katie (Eric) Schwartz. He is further survived by his twenty-two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Leola; siblings and in-laws Andrew (Orilla) Albers, Leo (Beatrice) Albers, Bernice Albers (his twin), Robert (Delores) Albers, Patricia Albers (in infancy); brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Laverne (Harold) Kocourek, Francis/Beaver (Connie) Huempfner, Gerald (Sally) Huempfner and his father-in-law and mother-in-law Hubert and Mayme Huempfner.

Family and friends may call at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N Webster Ave, De Pere on June 2, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. The visitation will continue on June 3, 2022 from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4805 Sportsman Dr, De Pere.
