Bernard Lacenski

Bernard J. Lacenski, 90, of Denmark, passed away Wednesday, May 01, 2013. The son of John and Anna (Kozlovsky) Lacenski was born July 28, 1922 in Denmark. He attended Denmark High School before marrying his beloved Rita Dollar on September 15, 1951 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in De Pere. Together, Bernard and Rita worked to make their dairy farm a success, while raising five children with a great work ethic. He held his family very dear, and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was very proud of his Czech heritage, and fluently spoke Czech. Bernard was a member of the Baylanders (Green Bay Barbershoppers) for 35 years; and was a lifelong member of All Saints Catholic Church, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society and the Church Choir. Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Rita, his children: Mary (Rick) Buyarski of Green Bay, Steven (Rita) Lacenski of Greenleaf, Chris (Cheryl) Lacenski of Denmark, Greg (Carmen) Lacenski of Denmark and Brenda (Dan) Daglish of Richmond, VA; grandchildren: John (Danelle), Mike (Aliza) and Joe Buyarski, Lawrence, Claire (Anthony) Ullmer, Phillip (Sara), Dominic (Nancy), Julianna, Christopher and Linus, Zack (Ashley), Matt (Ashley), Pat, Eileen and Elizabeth, Amanda (Evan) Shepeck, Sabrina Alex and Abigail Daglish; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters: Gertrude Settano and Dorothy (Dan) Wanish; sisters-in-law: Elsie (Don) Krajnik, Gladys Diny, Leona Beining, Joan (Dick) Maurer and Jan (Pat) Henning; as well as nieces and nephews. Bernard was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna; 2 great-granddaughters, and a brother, Jack Lacenski. Friends may visit at Knutson-Cotter Funeral Home, 536 Cty Road R, Denmark, on Thursday, May 2, from 5-8pm with a prayer service at 7:30pm. Visitation will continue on Friday, May 3 from 9:15 until 10:45am at All Saints Catholic Church in Denmark. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am, with the Rev. David Wanish (Bernard’s nephew and God-child) officiating. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery.
