Bernard Alvin “Buddy” Larsen, 84, Denmark, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2011. He was born August 10, 1926, son of the late George and Anna (Ankerson) Larsen. He married Jean Carol Johnson at Calvary Lutheran Church in Denmark on November 8, 1947. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Buddy was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. He had a great passion for horses. He spent his adult life training Standardbred race horses. He also enjoyed camping with his family and friends, and spending winters in Florida. Buddy was a caring father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be deeply missed. Surviving are his children David (Vickie) Larsen, Alaska; Sharon Rzysko, Antioch, IL; Wendy (Randy) Olsen, Paddock Lake, WI; and Doug (Laurie) Larsen, Westmont, IL; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Nancy Larsen, June Larsen, Dorothy “Dottie” (Howard) Schneider, Pat Johnson,; brother-in-law, Harris Schleis. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and by 4 brothers and 6 sisters. Friends may call at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 435 Wisconsin St., Denmark, on Monday, May 16, 2011, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Tuesday, May 17th from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. The funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday with Rev. Beth Macha officiating. Interment inWest Danish Cemetery. Cotter Funeral Home, Denmark, is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com.
