Bernard "Bernie" Wicker

Bernard (Bernie) Wicker, 82, De Pere, passed away unexpectedly Ash Wednesday, March 09, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. Son of the late James and Marie (Lasee) Wicker was born November 5, 1928 in De Pere. Bernie married his wife of 60 years, Alice Cleven, on September 9, 1950 at St. Mary Catholic Church in De Pere. For 50 years, Bernie was employed as Pressman for Milprint. Together with his brother, Bud, they shared a carpenter business, fixing and building many projects over the years. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Community, where he was active in the Holy Name Society. He worked as an usher for the Packers for over 35 years, and volunteered his time at Bellin Hospital and Meals on Wheels. Bernie loved to go fishing, play cribbage and watch all local high school and legion sports, as well as all sports. He especially loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 60 years, Alice; children: Dan Wicker, Kathy (Harry) Tease, James (Lisa) Wicker, and John (Wendy) Wicker; grandchildren: Heather (Allan) Schimberg, Jason Tease and special friend, Trina Doughty; Emily, Jessica, and Nathan Wicker; Lauren and Colin Wicker; brother, Richard (Dorothy) Wicker; sisters, Catherine Gossen and Caroline Kocken; sister-in-law, Dorothy Mae Wicker; brothers-in-law, Don (Regina) Cleven, Blanche Heezen, Mary Schmidt, and Cy Cleven; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Bernie was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon; brothers: Clarence Wicker and Ignatius (Bud) Wicker; sisters: Lauretta Goffard, Genevieve Koslowski, Murella Wicker, and Sr. Therese Wicker; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Friends may call Friday, March 11, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, (920)336-8702, where there will be a Parish Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of Mass at St. Mary Catholic Community, Pope John XXIII Circle, Town of Ledgeview, off Sportsman Drive. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Saturday at church, with Rev. Patrick Beno officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, De Pere.
