Beatrice M. Petersen

April 3, 1932 — February 21, 2019

When God took Gordy to fix the squeak in the pearly gates, Gordy said to him, “I can’t read or write- I need my Beatrice to help put up a new gate.” With that God took Beatrice to be with her partner. Now they are working together, just like when they were young, dancing and laughing together with no pain.
Beatrice M. Petersen, age 86, of Denmark, was reunited with Gordy, who passed away February 16, with family at her side on Thursday, February 21, 2019. She was born April 3, 1932 in Green Bay to the late Harry and Stella (Legois) DeVillers. When young, she worked at Bellin Hospital for 2 years washing dishes, and then at Manger Casket Company in Green Bay from 1949-1954, where she used to take catnaps in the caskets, and also worked at the Co-op for 2 years in the hardware department. In 1963, Gordy and Beatrice started their own business, known as Petersen Repair Service, never going out on a service call without each other. She was one of the original members of the Viking Community Rescue Squad as a base operator. Beatrice was a talented quilter, and each grandchild has a hand-made quilt of their own. As an avid sports fan, she enjoyed watching any kind of sporting event. Word searches were a favorite pastime of hers, and she had a book in every vehicle she rode in. She also loved playing solitaire on the iPad that Gordy bought her, loved camping and jumping the train for rides to Kewaunee, and especially enjoyed visits from the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, particularly when the grandchildren had water fights.
Surviving Beatrice are her children: Judy (Tom) Klika of Denmark, Debbie Petersen of Green Bay, Pam (Kevin) Krueger of Denmark and Charlie (Shari) Petersen of Florida; daughter-in-law JoAnn Petersen of Green Bay; grandchildren: Deann, April, Chris, Nick, Andrea, Brady, Max, Jessica and Danielle, as well as 10 great-grandchildren; She is further survived by her brother: Roland (Sue) DeVillers of Suamico, sister: the late Lila (Ken) Wyckoff of Green Bay, Sisters-in-law: Marion (the late Howard) Peterson; Alice (Joe) Kobes of Denmark and Louise (the late Harlan) Ihlenfeldt of Kewaunee, nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was reunited with her husband of 67 years, Gordy, son, Clyde Petersen; great-grandson Kenny G. Petersen; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Arthur and Nettie (Christensen) Petersen.
Family and friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home-Denmark Chapel, 536 Cty Rd R, Denmark, on Tuesday, February 26, from 4-8pm. A prayer service will be held at 7:30pm. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 435 Wisconsin Ave, Denmark, from 9:00am until 10:30am. Funeral service at 11:00am with Pastor Andy Zoerb officiating. Entombment in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd with her husband, Gordy.
The love they shared was true love and our Dad called her home. Such a special ending to a wonderful love story of our parents and the start of a new one in Heaven.
