Barbara Ann (White) Roznowski

December 19, 1946 — September 14, 2016

I lived a wonderful, fulfilling life for 70 years. Although born in Green Bay to Norb J. White and Mary Jane (Jones) White I never lived here until after college graduation in the early 1970s. My residences included the Detroit area (Ferndale), upstate New York (Plattsburg), Stamford Conn., Madison and finally Green Bay. I had the opportunity to spend a few summers during my college years in Glacier National Park (Montana), Estes Park (Colorado), Poughkeepsie New York and Bellingham, Washington. I met other youth from all over the country at these various summer jobs/ experiences. I've skied at Jackson Hole Wyoming, Alta Utah Snowmass, Aspen Breckenridge Colo. Cruised through the Panama Canal. I sailed in the Caribbean Islands where one night we literally tied the boat to a palm tree. The native children swam out to the boat to ask what kind of fish we wanted for dinner! It was awesome! We took a land and sea tour of Alaska and spent time in Playa del Carmen. The past few years my husband and I have enjoyed extended vacations in the LaQuinta, CA area. Love it there! I attended the University of Connecticut, St. Norbert College and UW-Madison, where I received my Masters in Social Work. For 36 years I worked for the WI Department of Health and Family Services. I had the privilege of placing numerous children with special challenges into forever adoptive families. The final 15 years I worked in a variety of administrative capacities, focused primarily on children. I retired a bit early to care for my first grandchild, Carter Broten. It was a great transition for me, for Carter and for my daughter, Denise (Roznowski) Broten. I enjoyed sailing, skiing, golfing, dogs, book club, nature and gadgets. (Which I did use!) After my first unwanted journey with breast cancer, 21 years ago, I decided to embark on a secret desire to be a clown. I spent two summers at Clown Camp at UW LaCrosse to become “Smiles”. I spent several years clowning one on one with pediatric cancer patients. I also got to walk in the Great Circus Parade in Milwaukee. What fun. Throughout the years I have enjoyed volunteering with the YWCA, St. John the Evangelist Church as well as Resurrection Catholic Church, GB Service League, Ribbon of Hope Foundation, Rock and Read at Howe Resource Center and as a Miracle League buddy. I met and married my wonderful husband, David while living in Green Bay after college graduation. He has been my rock through these final years where cancer interrupted our life! We have two adult children whom we are very proud of. Mike lives in Kansas City, married his love, Jenny (Sargent) Roznowski in 2011and have a 1 year old daughter, Ryan Taylor. She is a delight. Denise lives in De Pere and has been teaching 4th grade for 16 years at Heritage Elementary. Her son, Carter is full of wonder and curiosity and I saw him often. My other remaining close relative is my brother, David White (Marilyn Sue), their children, Ann Spaeth (Bryan), Jeff White and Rob White; I was preceded in death by my father in 1965 and my mother in 2007. I want to thank all the dedicated staff at Green Bay Oncology, especially Dr. Groteluschen and Tara Lien for their constant care and concern. Trying one thing after another to keep my quality of life as long as possible and honoring my wishes. Also my heartfelt thanks to the staff at Unity Hospice for their constant care and concern. Please no flowers. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to either Ribbon of Hope Foundation or Miracle League of Green Bay. Special thanks to friends who have stood by me during this unwanted journey, especially Ann and Tim Zolper and Jeanne and Mike McKenna and so many others who offered love and support in many ways. Also thanks to the Mangans who loaned me Addie Rose and the Kings who loaned me Nigel. They brought me great comfort when I needed my dog fixes. Friends may attend a visitation at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Dr., Green Bay on Monday, September 19, 2016 from 4 until 6:30pm, concluding the evening with a parish prayer service. Visitation continues on Tuesday at church from 2:30pm until 3:45pm. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 4:00pm with Bishop Robert Morneau officiating, followed by a social celebrating my life. Cotter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to www.cotterfuneralhome.com. You won't want to miss the social.
