Arnold E. Henningsen, 85, Denmark, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 31, 2011, at his apartment at Wayside Estates. Dad was born April 20, 1925 in Gibson, WI, to the late Ben and Nelia (Jensen) Henningsen. Dad married our mother, Hazel (Peterson) on August 4, 1951. Hazel preceded him in death December 29, 1988. He served his country in the United States Navy, serving in the South Pacific. For over 70 years, Dad enjoyed going to Holiday Resort on Lake Noquebay in Crivitz and Little Newton Lake with his family and friends. Dad loved to bowl in his younger years and enjoyed watching sports and tending to his garden. Dad graduated from Mishicot High School, went to WWII for 2 ½ years, worked at his dads cheese factory for 1 ½ years, and worked for Pauly Cheese until his retirement in 1986. Dad was a lifetime member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Denmark. Dad was a longtime member of the Men’s Club at church. Dad is survived by his children, Patricia Henningsen, Joliet, IL; Pauline (Paul) Bruss, Wausau, WI; Mary Beth (special friend-Joe Hawley) Henningsen, Jacksonville, FL; Janet Henningsen, Appleton, WI; and Keith (Mary) Henningsen, Green Bay, WI; five grandchildren: Rhonda (Garrett) Mohr, Rebecca (Brian) Turner, Matthew (special friend-Sarah) Bruss, Derick Melotte, and Justine Melotte; five great-grandchildren: Cason, Kelsie, Tyler, Jacob and Rachel; two sisters: Carol Hopf, Green Bay, WI, and Violet (Clarence) Ney, Green Bay, WI; brothers-in-law: Dale (Pat) Peterson, Antigo, WI, Melvin Peterson, Denmark, Carol (Francis) Rabas, Denmark, Rosie (Ken) Glover, Elk River, MN; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Nelia Henningsen; wife, Hazel; son, Stanley; a granddaughter, Rachel Bruss; one sister, Lorraine Peckham; in-laws: Herman and Tillie Peterson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Bill Hopf, Carl and Dorothy Peterson, Joyce Peterson, Elsa Christiansen, and Clyde Peterson. Friends may call (TODAY) Sunday, April 3, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Knutson-Cotter Funeral Home, 536 Cty R, Denmark. Visitation will continue on Monday at OUR SAVIOR'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, DENMARK, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. Beth Macha officiating.
