Arlene L. (Fischer) Maass

January 20, 1931 — March 17, 2010

Arlene L. Maass, 79, Wrightstown, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 17, 2010, surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 20, 1931 in Milwaukee, daughter to the late Edwin E. and Florence Fischer. Arlene married Charles W. Maass on January 10, 1953, and together ran the family farm. After retirement, Arlene and Chuck loved to travel, especially their trips to Florida with family and friends to visit their son and family. Arlene always had a zest for life, which showed through her hearty laugh and great sense of humor. She was an avid Badger and Packer fan, and enjoyed puzzlebooks and watching TV. Arlene was a member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Wrightstown, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid for many years. She will be dearly missed by her husband, Chuck, who was an exceptional caregiver for our mother; children: Jerry (Anne) Maass, Lou Ann Beard, Bob (Betty) Maass, Mary (Dick) Fritsch, Char (Ken) Lemke, Ed Maass, and Ken Maass; grandchildren: Jenna, Lauren and Chandler Maass, Eric Beard and Brandon (Amanda) Beard, Amber Maass, Nathan (Jen) Fritsch, Nichole (Josh) Myers, Noah (friend, Kari) Fritsch, Chris (Melinda) Lemke, Ryan (friend, Amy) Lemke, and Jamie (friend, Ben) Lemke; great-grandchildren: Madelyn and Elly Beard, Collin and Caleb Fritsch, Dominic Myers, and Elijah and Kersten Lemke; sister, June (Vern) Lemke; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Fischer and Beverly Bretzman. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents and brothers: Louis Fischer and Richard Fischer. Family and friends may call Friday, March 19, 2010 (TODAY) from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at DeWane-Cotter Funeral Home, 711 Main St., Wrightstown, where there will be a Prayer Service at 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Wrightstown. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at church, with the Rev. Matthew Vik officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions may be made to St. John’s Church or Unity Hospice. The family extends a special thank you to all the nurses and aides from Unity Hospice for their time and dedication. Their help and support was really appreciated.
