Arleen (Lasee) Hockers

March 9, 1926 — February 17, 2023

Arleen Frances Hockers, 96, De Pere, WI, entered eternal life on February 17, 2023, surrounded by her beloved family.

She was born the second oldest of seven children to Joseph and Florence (Vande Hei) Lasee at home, in the Town of Rockland, during a snowstorm on March 9, 1926. Arleen graduated from De Pere High School, Class of 1944, and then resided in De Pere her entire life.

On May 2, 1945, she married her sweetheart Roland Hockers, after he returned home from service in the Army Air Corps. Arleen and Roland were blessed with six children, 14 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren. They were married for 48 years before Roland passed away on January 28, 1994.

She enjoyed working at Shopko in De Pere for 25 years and made many lifelong friends. Arleen loved all family events, watching sports, baking, sewing, being a Cub Scout Den Mother, and bus tours.

On January 13, 2001, Arleen married Lester Krug. Having been married in their seventies, Lester gave her roses every month, until he passed away on April 12, 2015. Together they traveled to many states, went on bicycle trips, and played cribbage. Religion was a very important part of her life, and she practiced her faith daily. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier and St. Mary Catholic Parishes of De Pere, Altar Rosary Society, De Pere Catholic Women's Club, and the De Pere VFW Auxiliary.

Anyone who knew our Mother will remember her beautiful blue eyes and warm smile. She was the best role model being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and trusted friend.

Lovingly remembered by her six children: Elaine (Glen) Van Rens, Larry (Eileen) Hockers, Marilyn (Mike) Bonfigt, Jerry (Cheryl) Hockers, Karl (Laurie) Hockers, and Joe (Susan) Hockers; 14 grandchildren: Kurt Van Rens (Amanda), Karie (Chris) Gielow, Lori (Dan) Lardinois, Jason (Michelle) Lemerond, Scott (Kelly) Bonfigt, Jenny Strebel, Adam (Ashley) Hockers, Craig (Sara) Hockers, Brandon (Sarah) Hockers, Kevin (Allison) Hockers, Brian Hockers (Amber), Keith (Melissa) Hockers, Jessica Hockers (Adam), and Michael Schoenberger; 24 great-grandchildren; sister Evie Seran, brothers Alan (Janice) Lasee and Richard (Carol) Lasee; Lester's children: Lyle (Jane) Krug, Lynn (John) Nelson and their families; extended family and friends.

She was welcomed home by her parents, husbands Roland and Lester, sisters Elvira (Leininger) Pouwels, Janet (Thiem) Clark, Carol Linskens, and brothers-in-law, siblings of Roland Hockers: Elmer (Margie), Richard (Lavone), Sister Alberta, Dorothy (Leo) Kusch, Donald (Grace), Howard (Bernice), and grandson Jason Van Rens.

A celebration of Arleen's life will take place on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at ST. FRANCIS XAVIER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 220 S. Michigan Street, De Pere, (PLEASE NOTE LOCATION CHANGE) with visitation at 8:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Mike Ingold officiating, and Reverend Richard Getchel and Reverend Jack Harper concelebrating. Her final resting place will be at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery in De Pere. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

A special thank you to our brother, Karl, and his wife, Laurie, for six months of loving care to our Mom in their home. Arleen's family expresses their gratitude to all the wonderful caregivers at Unity Hospice. As Mom would often say, "Bye for now."
