Anthony "Tony" Olson

Anthony A. (Tony) Olson, 76, De Pere, passed away Monday at his home following a long illness. He was born August 22, 1936 to Roy and Loretta (Loberger) Olson in Oconto Falls, WI. He married Marilyn C. Van Der Kelen-Fonferek on May 14, 1966 at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in Green Bay. Tony was a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish in De Pere, where he often ushered at 4pm Mass on Saturdays. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening, and loved to bowl in his early days. Tony was also a driver for the mobile meals delivery program, and worked at U.S. Paper Mill for 32 years. He is survived by his wife: Marilyn, son, Curtis (companion Shelly Perrault), a grandson, Cory; brothers: James (Pat), Cletus and David (Diane); sisters: Anita Hearley, Ardella (Wayne) Nelson, Leona (William) Fonferek and Luann (Roy) Woodland; brothers and sisters-in-law: Robert (Laverne) Kriescher, Dolores Petasek and Georgina (Glen) Norman. Tony was preceded in death by: a daughter, Carla Marie Olson, his mother and father, a brother, Leroy (Diane) Olson, a sister, Evelyn (Bern) Halverson, brothers-in-law: Frank Hearley, Richard Petasek, Norbert (Donna) Fonferek, Francis Fonferek, sisters-in-law Karen Olson, Irene (David) Petasek, many nieces, nephews and friends. Family and friends may call at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 220 S. Michigan Street, De Pere, on Wednesday, September 12, from 1 until 3:45pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 4pm on Wednesday, at the Church with the Rev. Richard Getchel officiating. Entombment in Allouez Catholic Mausoleum. Cotter Funeral Home and Cremation Services is assisting the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com. Tony’s family respectfully asks donations for a memorial fund be made in lieu of flowers. The family would like to extend a special thank you to: Shelly Perrault, the nurses and staff of Heartland Hospice especially Barb and Heidi, the Kriescher family, Theresa Hansen and Jean and Mary Ann.
