Annette (Doubek) Dechamps

November 24, 1948 — April 2, 2010

Annette M. DeChamps, 61, Denmark, formerly of Menominee, MI, daughter of the late Robert and Doris (Prucha) Doubek, now rests peacefully after a long battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. She graduated from The Academy in Green Bay, and worked as a Legal Secretary for Attorney Ron Venci for many years. Annette’s unique ability to experience the world in her own special way led her to become an accomplished artist. Annette could see the beauty all around her and would express that special joy in her paintings. Annette’s flare for painting, crafting and decorating inspired her and those talents reflected her vision of the world through her eyes, one of special wonder, comfort and peace—where she is now. Of her fondest times were those with her two very special friends, Kathy and Judi. Each Friday they would come together to share their art and friendship. What would start out to be an art lesson would soon become a gab session, but each moment was cherished. Of her many other passions was her love of NASCAR and #17 Matt Kenseth. Annette followed Matt’s career from local tracks to NASCAR. Through the years she remained a loyal and dedicated fan which earned her the nickname, “Mrs. Kenseth”. Annette also enjoyed time spent at the cabin up north taking in nature or quietly fishing on a small lake. Her children and grandchildren were her true joy in life. She is survived by her daughter, Kristy DeChamps, step-daughters, Debbie DeChamps, Dawn Wanek and Dolly (Craig) Hilbert; grandchildren: Kayla and Courtney Wanek, Roberto Pickenheim and Arianna and Garrett Hilbert. Annette is also survived by her husband of 28 years, Gary DeChamps and brothers: Steve (Kathy) Doubek, Mark (Donna) Doubek and Bruce Doubek. She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Doris Doubek; maternal grandparents, George and Mildred Smiltneck; and paternal grandparents, Clyde and Margaret Anderson. Family and friends may call Monday, April 5, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Knutson-Cotter Funeral Home, 536 Cty R, Denmark, where there will be a Parish Prayer Service at 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Stark. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at church, with Fr. Lee J. Kahrs officiating. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com.
