Ann Van Rens

January 26, 1918 — March 20, 2015

Ann M. (Cornelissen) Van Rens, 97, our loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother, entered into eternal life on Friday, March 20, 2015. She was born on January 26, 1918 to the late Albert and Nellie (Vande Hei) Cornelissen. Ann was the youngest of 10 children. On June 21, 1941, she married John Van Rens at St. Mary Catholic Church in De Pere. Ann was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church and volunteered in the Quilters Club, Refund Club and also worked at funeral dinners. She also donated many hours at the Christian Outreach. She enjoyed the simple things in life: family, going out to eat with John and later her lady friends, gardening and was a woman of strong faith. Ann attended daily Mass for many years. Ann and John enjoyed taking the grandchildren to their cottage in Chute Pond during the summer. Her specialties included making pancakes for the grandchildren, cut out Christmas cookies and baking bread on Mondays. Ann will be sadly missed by Glen and Elaine (Hockers) Van Rens, Ledgeview and their son, Kurt (Amanda) and his sons, Aaron and Jordan Van Rens, Wrightstown, also their daughter, Karie (Chris) Gielow and their son, Travis Jason Gielow, Oregon; Daniel and Jean (Aschenbrenner) Van Rens and their daughter, Shannon (Chad), De Pere. She is further survived by a sister-in-law, Janet Cornelissen; many nieces, nephews and friends. Ann was preceded in death by her husband, John on November 14, 2001; infant son, Richard; infant granddaughters: Tracy, Lisa, Angela and grandson, Jason Van Rens. Also her sisters: Kate (Bill) Borman, Margaret (Peter) Binish, Elizabeth (Gerald) Patton, Marie (Ray) Trinkner, Dorothy (Alan) Koenig, Eleanor (Al) Beining and brothers John (Clara) Cornelissen, Sylvester (Vivian) Cornelissen and Harry Cornelissen. She was also preceded in death by John’s family: Frank (Mae) Van Rens, Wilbur (Marian) Van Rens, Rose Patton Brown, Eleanor (Walter) Boehm, Marie (Ted) Manders, Clara (Ray) Bellin, Winfred Van Rens, and Mable (Jim) Denis. Family and friends may visit St. Mary Catholic Church, 4805 Sportsman Dr., Ledgeview, on Monday, March 23, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m at the church., with Rev. Richard Getchel officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, De Pere. Cotter Funeral Home is assisting the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com.
