Amalie "Mollie" Gauerke

Amalie “Mollie” Gauerke, 99, De Pere, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at her home. She was born January 18, 1912, in Heimthal, Ukraine, daughter to the late Friedrich and Auguste Sonnenberg. Amalie and her family moved from Heimthal, returning back to their fatherland, Germany. They came to the United States through Ellis Island in December of 1924. Mollie married Rudolph “Rudy” Gauerke, May 11, 1934, in Oshkosh, and he preceded her in death on February 23, 2001. She will be deeply missed by her three children: Marjorie (Steve) Burdick, David (Carole), and Virginia (John) Burdick; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Gertrude Leopold; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and by her son, John. Private funeral services will be held at Cotter Funeral Home, De Pere.
