Allison L. Helgeson

April 29, 1965 — June 24, 2014

Allison Lee Helgeson, April 29 1965- June 24, 2014 Allison Helgeson, daughter, partner, sister, mother, friend, died peacefully at home Tuesday June 24th after a brave battle with cancer. She was born April 29, 1965 in Oconto Falls to Ruth and Gordon Helgeson, but she was a Green Bay girl through and through. The family moved to Green Bay in 1968 where she attended Doty Elementary, Edison Junior High and graduated from East High School in Green Bay in 1983. She enjoyed sports especially gymnastics, competing with the YMCA travelling team. She worked as an accountant and as a bartender and waitress in several Green Bay area bars and restaurants and was most recently employed as a Front of the House Manager at Lambeau Field, working with kind and generous people she greatly enjoyed. She was predeceased by her father in 2010, grandparents and several aunts and uncles. She is survived by her life partner and rock, Tony Michael Olp, and his daughter Malia Olp-Thompson; her mother Ruth Helgeson; sisters Elizabeth (Michael) Hauser and Rebecca (Henning) Grassau; nieces Hannah Grassau and Anna Hauser and nephew Theo Hauser; aunts Donna Sheldon and Beverly Helgeson; and Tony’s mom Carla Brawner and Tony’s fantastic family. Allison was extremely grateful to be able to recently unite with her son Timothy Olson and grandson Peyton. She surrounded herself with many wonderful friends, from all stages of her life in Green Bay, who were a great comfort to her. If you knew her you couldn’t help but be infected by her fun-loving spirit, sunny optimism, and kindness. Visitation will be at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Avenue, De Pere, from 2:00pm until the time of service at 4:00pm on Sunday, June 29, with Pastor Steve Hartman officiating. Online condolences at www.cotterfuneralhome.com In lieu of flowers Allison requested that donations be made to Ovarian Cancer Community Outreach, Inc. (PO Box 1176, Green Bay, WI 54305) or the Jackie Nitschke Center. She also insisted that we not be gloomy at her memorial service. Her family would like to thank the many people who helped her throughout her life, most recently including Dr. Jonathan Tammela, Dr. Christopher Rupp, Martha Kralovec, Kristin Falkenberg, her chemo nurses Sarah, Resa, Tina, the physicians, nurses and staff at Saint Vincent’s Hospital and Carrie and Molly along with the caring nurses and staff at Unity Hospice.
