Allan Wery

September 6, 1944 — November 1, 2013

Allan Francis Wery, 69, left this earth for his next adventure on Friday, November 1st. He was born September 6th, 1944 to the late Elmer and Rita (Sauvey) Wery in Green Bay. He graduated from East DePere High School in 1963. Allan married Patricia Wollenberg on September 17th, 1966. He was the proud parent of three adopted children and sacrificed so that they could attend Catholic grade school at St. Joseph's in Green Bay. As a volunteer at St Joseph's, Allan spent many hours supervising Bingo, singing in the choir and decorating the church. He also coached soccer and attended many games for his children and grandchildren. Allan was superbly proud of being a Boy Scout and having achieved the status of Eagle Scout. He later was the Scout Master of St Joseph's Pack 1010 for his son and formed Tri-Teen Scouting Emergency Preparedness Corporation. He lived the scouting motto of 'Be Prepared' by earning certification as a Wisconsin first-responder, becoming an active member of REACT (Radio Emergency Associated Communications Team) and absolutely loved being the Red Cross Disaster Chairman where he could assist those in the most dire of situations at a moment's notice. It can truly be said that Allan was willing to drop everything and do anything for anyone whether he knew them or not. Allan loved camping and the outdoors. Many weeks were spent at Potawatomi and Peninsula State Parks as well as Chute Pond. He lived to be 'up north' in the woods, on the lake and around a campfire. Allan greatly appreciated all the dear friends and neighbors he had at Georgetown Manor and thanks them for their compassion and friendship. Allan accumulated many nicknames, with 'Doc Smiley' and 'Searcher One' being his favorites. He loved to write and wanted to publish a book about positive thinking, letting go of the past and how to visualize and achieve big dreams. In his own words: It's never too early to be happy for the rest of your life and It's not the hours you put in, it's what you put into the hours that counts. His efforts and dreams were always to make others lives easier. Allan is survived by his children, Chris (Renee) Wery, Jennifer (David) Landolt, Julie (Aaron) Crouch, grandchildren Hannah and Calvin Wery, Keegan Landolt, Aidan and Jackson Crouch, brother Jack (Eileen) Wery, Mary Therese (Vaughn) DeVorse and Carol (Ken) Peterson. He is further survived by the love of his life, Patricia (Wollenberg) Wery. Allan was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Rita, his sister Barbara (Landolt) Wery, and his greatly missed good buddy Marvin Mehlhouse. Family and friends may visit Cotter Funeral home on Tuesday, November 5th from 5 to 8pm. Further visitation will occur on Wednesday from 9 to 11am at St Agnes Catholic Church on 9th Street in Green Bay.
