Allan Chaloupka

August 12, 1926 — April 23, 2017

Allan Adolph Chaloupka, age 90, of Denmark, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Scandinavian Court in Denmark. The son of the late Adolph and Mildred (Strouf) Chaloupka was born August 12, 1926 in the Town of Gibson. He graduated from Mishicot High School in 1944 and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy from August of 1944 until July of 1947. On February 23, 1952, he married the former Kathleen Schroeder in Manitowoc, and together they shared 65 years of marriage. During his career, Allan worked for Pauly Cheese until his retirement in 1988, and also drove school bus for the Denmark Public Schools. He was a member and past commander of VFW Post 6705 in Denmark, and was proud to have been on a WWII Honor Flight. In his spare time, Allan enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers, listening to polka music and keeping a meticulous garden. He was a life-long member of Melnik Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife, Katie; children: Lynn (Bob Boyer) Hager of Pound, Karen Chaloupka of Denmark, Wayne (Vicki) Chaloupka of Luxemburg, Dean (Anne) Chaloupka of Wellington, FL, Brian (Julie) Chaloupka of Kewaunee, Ross (Gena) Chaloupka of Roswell, GA, and Neal (Jim Seitz) Chaloupka of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren: Tricia (Charles) Rottier, Scott (Lorra) Hager, Carrie (Bob Siebert) Hager, Laura Chaloupka, Sara Chaloupka, Tony Chaloupka, Brandon Chaloupka, Morgan Chaloupka, Hannah Chaloupka, Kim (Shaun) Hardtke, Amie Chaloupka, Matt Chaloupka; step-grandchildren: Sarah Mitchell and Mason Mitchell; great-grandchildren: Alex Hager, Colin Rottier, Katy Hager and Adrienne Hardtke; sisters-in-law: Arlene Schroeder, Lois Schroeder, Ruth Wegner and Cheryl (David) Decker; brother-in-law Roger (Betty) Schroeder as well as nieces, nephews, other family and friends. In addition to his parents, Adolph and Mildred, Allan was preceded in death by an infant son Lee; sisters: Edith Mae, Elaine (Carl) LaViolette and Joan Alioto; brother Leslie (Louise) Chaloupka; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Melvin and Helen Schroeder; brothers-in-law: Robert Schroeder, Leo Schroeder and Norman Wegner as well as a sister-in-law Helen Schroeder. Family and friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home-Denmark Chapel, 536 County Road R, Denmark, on Wednesday, April 26, from 4-8pm with a VFW service at 7:00pm with Denmark Post 6705. Visitation will continue on Thursday at Melnik Presbyterian Church, 12320 Melnik Rd, (Whitelaw) from 10:00am until 10:45am. Funeral service at 11:00am Thursday with the Rev. Phil Kinzel officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. Our family would like to extend a special thank you to Southern Care Hospice, nurse Sarah Harris and the staff at Scandinavian Court Assisted Living for their care.
