Alice Mazanet, 94, Shady Lane Nursing Home, Manitowoc, formerly of Denmark, passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2010. She was born on July 21, 1916 to the late Joseph and Josephine Konop. On September 18, 1934, she married Joseph Mazanet at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Stangelville. He preceded her in death on January 22, 1986. Alice and Joe operated a farm in Stangelville for many years. In 1952 she started working at Mirro Aluminum Co. and she retired in 1978. Alice was a member of All Saints Church in Denmark and was a devout Catholic. Her rosary was her most valuable possession. She was also very proud of her Czech heritage. She was a wonderful cook and baker; her specialties were her kolaches, rye bread and sauerkraut and dumplings. In the years that Stangelville had a kermiss, she cooked and baked for days, making sure that everyone who stopped in stayed for a meal. She loved company. Alice is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jane and Carl Rozek, Denmark, her son and daughter-in-law, Don and Pat Mazanet, Green Bay; six grandchildren: Kay (Dan) Minesal, Dave (Karen) Rozek, Dan (Carol) Rozek, Pam (Paul) Belleau, Tamra (Ryan) Campbell, and Kurt Mazanet; ten great-grandchildren: Andy, Craig and Jessica Rozek, Kelly Van Dyck and John Rozek, Sam and Mihaela Minesal, Marissa, Hailey and Daniel Campbell; a great-great grandson, Trevor Rozek; a sister, Gladyce Selner; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends also survive. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her son, Gary, on March 31, 2010. Friends may call Saturday, December 11, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of Mass at St. Therese Parish-St. Lawrence site, Stangelville. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Saturday at church, with Fr. Dennis Drury officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Knutson-Cotter Funeral Home, Denmark, is assisting the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com. The family would like to especially thank the staff of Shady Lane for their wonderful care; and Diane Johnson, Jerry Rozum, Laura Peterson, Donna and Jerry Powalisz, and Jim Sittman for their frequent visits and kindness shown to Mom.
