Agnes R. Turriff, 94, longtime De Pere resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 14, 2012. The daughter of the late William J. and Rose (Robach) O’Connell was born on August 31, 1917 in Green Bay. She was proud of the wonderful Irish Heritage that her parents instilled in her during her lifetime. She graduated from Green Bay West High School Class of 1935. Agnes married Norbert Turriff in 1941 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Green Bay. She worked for the Norbertine Order for 34 years. She enjoyed knitting, crafts and needlepoint. Agnes is a member of St Francis Xavier Catholic Church, De Pere and the Altar Rosary Society at the church. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Tom (JoAnn) Turriff, De Pere. Two grandchildren and their families; Susan (Steve) Parsons, Kaitlin and Colton, Neenah; William (Cindy) Turriff, Courtney and Allison, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Nieces and a nephew also survive Agnes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norbert on October 11, 1982; two sons, Richard and James; daughter-in-law; Joanne; one brother and his wife, Norbert (Pauline) O’Connell. Family and friends may call on Saturday, March 17, 2012, St. Patrick’s Day, from 9 a.m. until the hour of Mass at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 220 S. Michigan St., De Pere. Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be at the church at 11 a.m. with Abbot Gary J. Neville, O.Praem officiating. Interment in Allouez Catholic Cemetery. Cotter Funeral Home Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com. A memorial fund is being established in Agnes’ name. Tom and his family would like to extend a thank you to Tender Hearts Assisted Living for the care given to Agnes. Also, a very special thank you to Dr. Matthias Fuchs, Cardiology Associates, and Bellin Cardiac Unit for the care and compassion given to Agnes during her final hours.
