Adeline (Lukes) Mahlik

Adeline (Lukes) Mahlik, 95, Denmark, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at Harmony of Denmark, surrounded by her family She was born on May 27, 1916 in the town of Gibson to the late Joseph and Emily (Zahorik) Lukes. On November 5, 1938 she married Joseph Mahlik at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Tisch Mills. He preceded her in death on July 20, 1969. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Denmark, where she was a member of the Altar Society and volunteered at the funeral dinners; and also for other special events that the church held. She also was a volunteer at the Parkview Nursing Home. She worked at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay as a housekeeper for 21 years. She was a member of the Wisconsin Czechs, the Czechs of Norman, and belonged to the Happy Hoppers dance club. For several years she was a Girl Scout leader. Adeline enjoyed having her family and children over for dinners and several special doings at the holidays. She also entertained several small groups for dinner and a good game of cards. In the summer she enjoyed her small garden and raspberry patch, and enjoyed taking care of the flowers around the house. Some of the entertainment she enjoyed were attending the Big Band dances, and later on the Polka bands. She enjoyed playing cards and attended many public card parties with friends. Adeline also enjoyed bowling, playing bingo and on occasion visiting the casino. She is survived by children: Dennis (Margaret) Mahlik, Nevada; Donna (Eddie) Duckart, Maribel; Darlene (Mark) Loritz, De Pere; and Don (Gloria) Mahlik, Denmark; eight grandchildren: Tom (special friend-Sherri Evanina) Mahlik, Bobby (Suzanne) Mahlik, Greg (Sheri) Duckart, Nancy (Jim) VanElzen, Michael (Kim) Duckart, Mark (Michelle) Duckart, Darren (Amy) Derricks, Ross (Dawn) Derricks; four step-grandchildren: Craig (Tracy) O’Brien, Cathy (Andy) Siebold, Ryan (Aimee) O’Brien, and Justin Loritz and fiancé Brenda Pieschek; nineteen great grandchildren: Alissa Mahlik; Mimi and Halle Mahlik; Alex, Cassy, and Lacey Duckart; Crystal and Travis Schuster; Ashley and Samantha Duckart; Nicole and Nathan Duckart; Alayna, Brooklyn and Devin Derricks; and Trey, Marcus, Kaden, and Whitney Derricks; four step great-grandchildren: Trevor and Callie O’Brien; Lilyanah O’Brien; and Gavin Siebold; sister –in-law, Alice Lukes; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; parents, Emily and Joseph Lukes; two brothers, William (Violet) and Raymond Lukes, Manitowoc, and several in-laws. Family and friends may call Friday, September 23, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Knutson-Cotter Funeral Home, 536 County Rd. R, Denmark. The parish prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday, Sep. 24th. from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of Mass at All Saints Catholic Church, 125 St. Claude St., Denmark. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at church, with Fr. Ron Colombo officiating. Interment in the church cemetery.
